#2. Registry Fix

Registry Fix is a thorough and feature rich registry scanner. It offers standard, deep and custom scanning options, which includes ignore lists. Registry Fix was able to find and repair a great number of registry problems on the test systems. It lagged only behind RegCure.

This program also contains a number of "Managers" to make securing and cleaning your PC much simpler: The Full Registry Backup Manager is a fast way to ensure that you always have a working version of the registry. Another useful manager is the System Startup Manager. This allows you to browse and remove programs that have been set to start up when Windows boots. The Add/Remove Programs Manager allows you to browse the programs installed on your computer and to delete any unwanted entries or data that may remain.

Registry Fix also offers email support as well as help files within the application. There is no online FAQ or knowledge base available for Registry Fix.

Registry Fix can also be configured to run at Windows Startup to make sure that the computer is checked regularly for errors. Scheduled scans are not available, however, so users that run their PCs continuously will need to remember to run the scan manually.

Perfect Optimizer is a Windows specific registry repair tool created by Miracle Technologies. Using registry specific technology that is claimed to repair more than 99% of computer problems. The software has a junk file scanner and cleaner to remove unwanted cookies, temp files and junk files to increase the system's speed.

Perfect Optimizer uses a memory manger to optimize the PC's memory usage for its physical memory, virtual memory and page file memory. The software provides ActiveX immunity; that prevents spyware, adware and other potentially unwanted software from accessing vulnerable areas of the system.

Perfect Optimizer employs a startup manager to control programs that run at system startup, this can also increase the performance of the system. The system update and backup utility safeguards the registry, important files and drive applications.

#4. Error Nuker

Error Nuker contains a scan scheduler feature. You can set this up to run Error Nuker every week at a particular time, or you can run the scan manually at any time.

Error Nuker also offers automatic software updates. This means you won't have to search around on their website to find the newest versions of the software.

Another feature offered by Error Nuker is the start up program manager.. This allows you to turn on and off the various programs set in the registry to run on Windows start up.

Error Nuker also offers a unique selective undo feature that lets you choose specific repairs to roll-back, if you encounter a problem.

It may not be quite as thorough or as easy to use as some of the other programs we reviewed, but Error Nuker offers some compelling features for users who want a clean system, but don't want to worry about it every day.

#5. Registry Easy

The application gives you the possibility of creating backups for your registry. Also, the optimizing and the management section of the software contribute to increasing its value. The scan option will check all the essential areas of your computer. Also, the results are accurate enough and if by any chance you will get false positives, you can always appeal to the backup file.

However, I recommend creating a backup of Windows Registry before removing anything from there. Better safe then sorry.

The interface is pretty shallow and a little consistency would not hurt. Also, the fact that there is a restriction when it comes to cleaning the registry is not too encouraging. Unfortunately, I could not test its registry cleaning abilities.

The spelling mistakes are definitely saying something about the developer. If you let them slip in such a way that everybody can see, than what can the users think about the coding and the scanning process?

Also, I took a look at the online menu. Despite the fact that it is not updated to version 2.0, the developer even took pictures of the spelling mistakes and posted them. May I suggest that going to an English checker first is not at all a waste of time, and posting the mistakes in the Help menu will definitely increase the value of the software and the trust of the customers.

From the results of the scan, the software seems to know what it is doing and considering the memory tweaking options and the optimizations available I would say you should give it a try and see for yourselves.
